Murugiah: Youths getting hired as salaried hitmen
IPOH: Youths are being hired as hitmen with monthly salaries, and the worrisome trend is growing, claims Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk T. Murugiah.
He said these youths were also given assignments to injure their targets and rob or steal.
Murugiah said he had recently come to know a 19-year-old youth from Taiping who went to Kuala Lumpur to make a living.
“Instead, he was offered a job which involved killing others or injuring people by cutting off their hands for a monthly salary of RM3,000.
“He was given photographs of his targets,” he added.
Murugiah said the youth had approached him for help after going into hiding from his gang leader and the police.
The leader is believed to be after the youth after he decided to opt out of the gang’s activities.
Murugiah, who heads the Public Complaints Bureau, was speaking to reporters after opening a crime prevention talk for youths here yesterday.
He said the cause of the rising crime rate among youths was busy parents who did not spend enough time to teach and nurture their children.
