Kota Kinabalu, October 25, 2009: Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) and Town Committee (JKDB), being the closest to the people, should write more detailed reports to the Government on the plight of people in their respective areas, said Rural Development Assistant Minister Datuk Sairin Karno.
He said they should also strive to enhance their knowledge.
"The Government has often reminded the JKKKs and JKDBs to plan development programmes by themselves through village development," he said when officiating at the closing of Management and Administrative Course at Dewan Pa' Musa, in Beaufort.
A total of 82 participants comprising chairmen, deputy chairmen and secretaries of JKKKs and JKDBs attended the three-day course organised by the Rural Development Ministry with cooperation from Beaufort District Office and Klias People's Development Leader Unit (UPKR).
Sairin said JKKKs and JKDBs should bring the Government closer to the people's heart so development programmes for people in rural areas could be implemented.
He said they must always work as a team to ensure the implementation of the programmes.
He said the Government is striving hard to enhance the people's standard of living and to turn Sabah into among developed states in 2025.
On other developments, he said JKKKs and JKDBs should strive to modernise and be bold to make changes. Also present were District Chief Amsir Dani and Assistant District Officer Shaid Othman.
