DECISION ON TEACHING MATHS AND SCIENCE IN ENGLISH IN SIX MONTHS

 The Education Ministry expects to reach a decision on the usage of the Teaching of Mathematics and Science in English (better known by its Malay acronym PPSMI) within six months.

“Any decision that will be made will take into account the ministry’s readiness in manpower and teaching methods.

“We will also consider the opinions of every parties especially scholars before making any decision,”

“One of the areas that will be looked into is increasing the number of qualified English teachers.

“Most English teachers are located in the cities while schools in rural areas lacked such manpower,”

another matter being considered was whether teaching both subjects in English would enable the students to master the language.
