A 78-YEAR-OLD MAN WROTE TO A CHINESE DAILY IN SINGAPORE APPEALING TO AN INTERNATIONAL BANK TO RE-EMPLOY HIS 50-YEAR-OLD SON WHO WAS RE TRENCHED EARLY THIS YEAR

image “My son is already 50. He has sent numerous letters seeking employment in the last few months but to no avail. As a father, it is heart-breaking to see him so sad. I know he has tried his very best,”

Two weeks ago, through a friend’s recommendation, the son worked as a part-time helper in a restaurant for S$6 (RM14) an hour.

“My son took the offer as he did not want to be staying at home all day,”

The man, known only as Lim, wrote that his son, who is married with children, found it difficult to get a new job.
