Possessing someone’s MyKad landed two Filipinas in jail
KOTA KINABALU 13th June, 2012: Two Filipinas were each jailed 10 months by the Magistrate’s Court for possessing someone else’s MyKad.
Magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus also ordered Nadia Ahmad, 38, and Darmisa Hamsarani, 30, to be referred to the Immigration Department for deportation after completing their jail term.
Nadia was in possession of a MyKad belonging to Suraya Gupurani (721010-12-6126) on April 19, at about 9.55pm at Terminal 1 of Kota Kinabalu International Airport.
Darmisa had a MyKad belonging to Armile Jahalni (730714-12-5812) also at the same day and place.
Both committed an offence under Section 25 (1) (e) of the National Registration Regulations, 1990, which provides for a maximum jail term of three years, or a fine not exceeding RM20,000, upon conviction.
Meanwhile, in another Magistrate’s Court, a 22-year-old man was fined RM3, 000 in default three months jail for committing a similar offence.
Magistrate Norhamizah Shaiffuddin fined Jamaludin Semang for possessing a MyKad of Abdul Rahman Petjoh (940122-12-5339) on May 27, at about 11.10am at the information counter of the Tanjung Aru police station.
He will also be deported after serving time in jail.
