SABAH BARISAN NATIONAL READY FOR 13TH GENERAL ELECTION ANYTIME

Sabah ready for 13th general election anytime

TAWAU May 19, 2012: Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Musa Aman said Sabah BN was ready for the 13th general election anytime as it had made early preparations.

The Chief Minister said Sabah BN’s preparations had always been based on preparing early and serving the people at all times and anywhere, without waiting for the elections to be approaching.

“We are prepared. From the beginning, I’ve told our assemblymen and members of parliament when they were chosen as elected representatives and given the mandate by the people, they should be grateful and thankful.

“Don’t regard the YB title that we’ve got as a privilege or a high rank. We should humbly accept it as not ‘Yang Berhormat’ but as ‘Yang Berkhidmat’ to the people,” he said in his speech at a meeting with Tawau Zone community leaders, here, today.

Musa was confident that the opposition parties would not be able to penetrate BN strongholds if the BN elected representatives continued to work hard and serve the people with dedication.

He also urged the people to preserve unity and political stability in the state as it was vital to provide a conducive environment for local and foreign investors.

The Chief Minister said from his meetings with investors and foreign government representatives, he could conclude that many foreign companies chose to invest in Sabah because of its political stability, beauty and kind, courteous people.

“These are the plus points for Sabah. If the investors invest here, they will provide more jobs and more income for our people. We must relay this message to the people for them to understand the real situation,” he said.

Musa was also confident that Sabah was on the right track to continue to propel the economy for the development and prosperity of the state and people.

He said Sabah’s financial position was strong and this was vouched by the Auditor-General himself; a position which enabled Sabah to pay the salaries of its public servants down to the grassroots level such as the chairmen of the village security and development committees.

He added that among the programmes introduced to eradicate poverty involving millions of ringgit in government allocations was the creation of mini estates (Mini Estet Sejahtera) throughout the state.

Musa said the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak was far-sighted in planning and implementing development programmes that could be inherited by future generations for a peaceful, comfortable and prosperous life.

In this regard, he urged the people of Sabah to reject the propaganda and slander by the opposition including their leaders flying in from the peninsula promising the moon and the stars, but these, he said, were just empty promises.
