First manufacturing and now tourism: FSM
March 21, 2012: WONG also touched on the recent withdrawal of Malaysia Airlines (MAS) direct flight services between Sabah and Japan, accusing the Transport Minister of not doing anything on the matter which affects the State's tourism industry.
He said it is strange that after providing the services for so long only now MAS realised that they are not making money from these routes.
"The Minister just said that is a business decision.
But what I want to say to the Minister is that sometimes the business decision needs to be evaluated," he said.
"So now as the cabotage policy is already killing the State manufacturing industry, it looks as if their next target is to kill the tourism industry in which Sabah has been doing very well by not asking MAS to do anything.
"Being a Transport Minister he should be discussing with MAS about the matter, to ask the airline company to help the Sabah tourism industry," he said.
diharap prestasi industri pelancongan Sabah tidak menurun disebabkan perkara2 tu
BalasPadamYa haraplah. Tapi saya yakin kerajaan pasti akan berusaha meningkatkan prestasi sektor pelancongan Sabah.
PadamSektor ini akan menjadi pendapatan utama juga.
PadamMacam saja... hehe. Tapi jangan sajalah dakwaan ini betul dah lah:P
BalasPadamSusah kita kalau industri pelancongan pun merosot. huhu
BalasPadamSabah ni antara destinasi pelancongan yang terkenal, pastikan industri pelancoingan Sabah berkembang pesat.
BalasPadamSemoga industri pelancongan Sabah terus berkemabng sekaligus menjana ekonomi negeri. All the best.
BalasPadamthe tourism sector in sabah plays an important role in boosting sabah's economy.
BalasPadamsince the direct flight services between Sabah and Japan were withdrawn, this only means that not many tourist from Japan are interested in flying to sabah. Most probably sabah is not heavily promoted to Japan.
PadamKerajaan harus meneruskan promosi agar lebih banyak golongan berkenalan dengan budaya dan keunikan negeri Sabah.
BalasPadamKecantikan alam semulajadi harus dipromosikan.
BalasPadamCarbotage is a right time to study and take immediate action to repeal.
BalasPadamthe state government has always look at alternative plans to ensure a positive growth in the tourist arrivals to the state due to the decision made by MAS.
BalasPadamthe best example is, when Tourism Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun went on a working visit to South Korea in October last year to meet with travel agents and aviation companies there with the aim to improve the frequency of the Seoul-Kota Kinabalu route.
