PRO-THAKSIN PARTY WINS THAI ELECTION BY LANDSLIDE - EXIT POLL

Pro-Thaksin party wins Thai election by landslide - exit poll

BANGKOK, July 3 (Reuters) - Thailand's opposition Puea Thai Party, allied with ousted prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, won a general election on Sunday by a landslide with 313 of 500 available parliamentary seats, according to an exit poll by Bangkok's Suan Dusit University.

The nationwide poll of 157,759 people who cast their vote showed Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva's ruling Democrat Party trailed Puea Thai with 152 of the parliamentary seats.

The size of the margin, if accurate, would allow Puea Thai to govern on its own without coalition partners and usher in to power Thaksin's sister, Yingluck Shinawatra, a 44-year-old businesswoman campaigning for prime minister.
