Cruel end for lover of man's wife

Kota Kinabalu: A labourer who found out that his wife had been cheating on him beat her married lover to death with an iron rod and buried him in a shallow grave.

It was learnt that 34-year-old Alson Ali's private part was also nearly severed in the vicious attack.

Alson, who had been having an affair with the labourer's wife the last six months, met his cruel end at the kongsi (workers quarters) he shared with his assailant in Kg Gudon, Menggatal.

Both illegal immigrants, they worked as construction labourers but at different sites in the State capital.

Alson's body was found buried about two feet deep in the bushes about 100 metres away from Km 10, Jalan Tuaran bypass, here.

City Police Chief, ACP Ahmad Sofi Zakaria, said the body was discovered Friday by Alson's friends who had been searching for him since his disappearance.

Alson's mother-in-law, Subulah Jalilul, 48, said she only realised he was missing when she went to visit him at the kongsi, on Monday.

"We (friends and relatives) searched for him everywhere and lodged a police report on Wednesday regarding his disappearance," she said.

Ahmad Sofi told reporters at the crime scene that police arrested a 40-year-old foreign man at a kongsi near Taman Cerah within three hours.

"After interrogation, it was learnt that the suspect's wife, in her 30s and also a foreigner, had been in a relationship with the victim for six months.

"This caused the suspect to attack the victim and kill him at the kongsi before burying the body about 50 metres away from the kongsi," he said.

Ahmad Sofi said police also recovered a sharp iron rod and a shovel close to where victim was buried.

"Based on preliminary investigation, we believe the suspect had used the iron rod to beat him to death," he said, adding that the body has been sent for a post-mortem.

Alson left behind his 29-year-old wife and three children aged one, three and five.
