KUALA LUMPUR, July 25 (Bernama) -- Maxis Communications Bhd will consider Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's call for its re-listing on Bursa Malaysia.
"The company will now take into consideration the Prime Minister's suggestion when deciding on the timing to relist the company.
"A further announcement will be made at the appropriate time," it said in a statement here Saturday.
On Wednesday, Najib said he had suggested to the telecommunication company to consider re-listing so as to attract more institutional investors and add more liquidity to the local bourse.
Maxis said that when the company was privatised and delisted in 2007, the stakeholders articulated the possibility of re-listing after the internal restructuring.
Maxis made its debut on Bursa Malaysia on July 8, 2002 but five years later, Binariang GSM Sdn Bhd (part of Tan Sri T. Ananda Krishnan's Usaha Tegas group) made a general offer to take the company private.
It's market capitalisation prior to delisting stood at RM39.8 billion.
