Anwar's lawyer S. N. Nair, in a statement issued here, said his client wanted Anifah to retract his statement and make an apology within 24 hours on the matter.

He said Anwar had instructed him to file a defamation suit against Anifah if the latter did not retract and make the apology within the stipulated time.

Anifah, in a joint press conference with United States Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton in Washington on Thursday, stated that he was personally offered to cross over to the opposition and offered a very lucrative position by Anwar.
