TENOM 20th April, 2009: Do not be afraid to voice complaints against the government in a constructive manner, said special officer of the Ministry of Rural & Regional Development, Jamawi Jaafar.
He urged the people especially Chinese traders to conduct dialogues with their elected representatives and heads of government departments to thrash out any outstanding community problems.
“The dialogue will enable the complainants to get an immediate verbal answer or explanation,” he said.
Jamawi who is also the deputy chairman of the Tenom District Council was speaking after a meeting with Chinese community leaders and traders here on Saturday.
He said the people should not fear to express their views or problems as the present government always placed the people’s interest before all others.
Rejecting the perception of several that certain assemblymen were slow to respond to problems in this area, he said the elected representatives had done their part but the delay could be the fault of others.
Meanwhile, chairman of the Tenom Urban Committee (JKDB) Kapitan Liew Foh Sin said they had submitted applications to the government to attend to the infrastructure needs in town but no action had been taken yet.
He denied allegations that he had been slow in responding to problems saying that the committee had met several times but there was no favourable reply from the authorities.
