image KENINGAU, 24th April, 2009: The anti-drug agency, Pemadam, has warned of the spread of the dadah scourge in Sabah where the drug is now processed locally without the need to rely on neighbouring countries to supply them.

image Pemadam chairman for Keningau, Amat Mohd Yussof said drugs found in Sabah used to come from neighbouring countries through the east coast and Kota Kinabalu but now dadah was even processed in the state.

“These culprits rent houses and turn them into drug processing plants,” he said when speaking at the 11th general meeting of Keningau Pemadam here on Wednesday.

imageAmat who is also the District Officer of Keningau therefore reminded youths to be wary of the tactics employed by drug traffickers to lure them into becoming addicts.

He said that a large number of drug abuse cases recorded by the police showed they were mostly local youths and the traffickers were mainly foreigners.

Amat believed the traffickers intentionally picked out local youths to destroy their future.

In this matter, he said the family institution was very important to keep the youngsters on the right path and not stray away from good moral values.
