AREN’T THE VOTES ENOUGH?

PENAMPANG: Reality TV shows artistes ought to be able to manage their own career.

They should not rely too much on fans or the government for sponsors in organising concerts or events.

Assistant Minister of Resource and Information Technology Development Donald Peter Mojuntin said once an artist wins a competition, this should give them a stepping stone to launch their career commercially.

“Fans have done their part by voting for their favourite artists to win via SMSs.

“There shouldn’t be any need for singers to seek sponsors from fans and the government if they are already benefiting from album sales,” said the minister, who yesterday received a courtesy call from members of the Esther Fan Club at his office.

Donald also said organisers of reality shows should be sincere in their roles to promote the entertainment industry by guiding singers in their careers and not just place priority on making profits.

“I’m happy many Sabahans have excelled in reality shows like Bintang RTM and Akademi Fantasia. This shows Sabah has got really talented people,” he added.
