KUALA LUMPUR, Mar 10 – Sabah lawmakers today spoke up against the government, claiming that the state has yet to benefit from the various development funds promised since last year.
“The RM1 billion announced by PM still cannot be seen. We talk about independence and equality with Sabah and Sarawak. Johor has everything. We are embarrassed,”
“I already know the answers, everything is just lip service,” said Kalabakan MP Datuk Abdul Ghapur Salleh.
Datuk Bung Mokhtar Radin asked SK Devamany, a deputy minister in the prime minister's department, to inform Parliament of when basic infrastructures would be completed in the state.
“They have not solved the basic problems, clean water, electricity, when will the EPU (Economic Planning Unit) solve these problems,” said Datuk Bung Mokhtar Radin .
In his reply Devamany did not give any specific answers but said the government understands the sufferings of the East Malaysians and is in the midst of implementing the various projects for the two states.
He added that RM2.1 million from the RM1 billion allocation has been disbursed.
“The implementation of projects under the RM1 billion special allocation announced in June 2008 depends on the request made by the state government, and we have received the list in November 2008,” said Devamany.
